Why Zee Cast exists
Zee Cast is named after Zeina — Zee from Zeina, Cast for what it does. It started as a way for two parents to put family photos and home videos on the living room TV without uploading a single file to someone else's server, and without handing a phone to a toddler so they could watch a slideshow.
Every mainstream alternative at the time either demanded a cloud account, re-encoded the video and lost the HDR, or tied up the phone with screen mirroring. So we built the thing we wanted: a small local server that serves the original files, byte for byte, and keeps working while you keep using your phone.
Local-first by design, not by marketing
- No Zee Cast cloud. Your selected media is served from your phone to your TV over the local network. It is never uploaded to us.
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for, and no user database to lose.
- No transcoding by default. The HTTP server sends the original bitstream with byte-range seeking, so the TV's own hardware decoder does the work.
- Nothing to install on the TV. The TV discovers Zee Cast through its built-in DLNA/UPnP support.
Who builds it
Zee Cast is built by Eslam & Rewan, parents of Zeina and Malek. It is a small, independent product — the same team ships both the iOS and Android apps, the protocol layer, and this site. That is also why the guides on this site read like field notes rather than press releases: they are written by the people who build and test the server.
iOS and Android share the same UPnP/DLNA wire format, HTTP routes and persistence schema, so a TV that works with one works with the other. See how we test for the devices and networks behind that claim.

Free on both stores. The optional Zee Cast Pro purchase unlocks advanced settings — it never changes what the server streams.
